Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Trey Songz respond to death of hip-hop entrepreneur

A whole host of stars have tonight taken to Twitter to pay tribute to hip-hop entrepreneur Chris Lighty, who was found dead earlier today.

The influential executive, who founded Violator Management and had previously handled the careers of Mariah Carey, 50 Cent and Busta Rhymes, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to the New York Daily News.

Rihanna said: “Rest peacefully Chris Lighty, my prayers go out to family and loved ones! Dear God please have mercy.” 

Nicki Minaj posted: “Another tragic & inconceivable loss for the culture. #RIPChrisLighty”

Mary J Blige tweeted: “U never know what can send a person over the edge or make them want 2 keep living. take it easy on people. We are so fragile.”

Several other high-profile names also offered their condolences including Trey Songz, Ludacris and Soulja Boy.
