American Idol regular Randy Jackson has cleverly dodged answering a series of questions about his possible return to the panel in a new interview.

Speaking to The Today Show earlier this morning (September 10), he was quizzed about his role on the talent show but avoided confirming whether or not he has signed up for the new series by talking specifically about new panelist Mariah Carey:

"Listen, ‘Idol’ is an amazing show. My friend Mariah Carey is there, I think she’s going to bring a lot of excitement to it, and you know, let’s see what happens!”

He also managed to deflect speculation about Nicki Minaj's supposed appearance as a new judge and added: "I don’t know who else has been confirmed yet or not…. I don’t really know. But I know Mariah is there!”

Jackson also visited the set of The View where he was probed again about his American Idol future, but remained just as tight-lipped: "It hasn’t been worked out, let’s see what happens… In the next couple of weeks, it will all be worked out.”
