Amelia Lily uses One Direction as inspiration for US success

Amelia Lily wants to emulate One Direction's success in the US.

The 2011 X Factor contestant has watched the British boyband enjoy massive success over the pond this year, with their debut album 'Up All Night' hitting No.1.

Lily - who is currently working on her debut album and recently saw her single 'You Bring Me Joy' hit No.1 on iTunes UK - said that to play the same venues as One Direction and be popular in the US is her "dream". She told Capital FM:

"It's amazing watching One Direction because they went through the same journey as me – they came third [on the X Factor] and now they're playing at Madison Square Garden. That's my dream. So maybe one day, fingers crossed."

Lily added that she can see herself living stateside in the future, with Los Angeles a particular favourite. She said:

"When I went to LA for the music video, I just looked around and I kept thinking in my head that I can see myself out here. Not even just music-wise, like living-wise as well. The UK will always be my home but I would like to eventually go out there because I just think it's so inspiring out there. It really makes you want to go further and more determined but I'd love to go to America one day with my music and stuff."

Lily may also benefit from studying the success of fellow X Factor graduate Cher Lloyd, who recently saw her track 'Want U Back' hit the one million sales mark in the US.
