X Factor hopeful gets death threats after winking at One Direction's Harry Styles

Briden-Starr Aspinall, who recently auditioned for X Factor Australia, has revealed that following her appearance on the show she received a high-volume of online death threats for winking at heartthrob Harry Styles.

The 20-year-old hopeful performed a rendition of Karmin's hit 'Brokenhearted' with her girlband Black Ivory and gave Styles, who was sitting in as a guest judge with the rest of his One Direction bandmates, a cheeky wink from the stage.

After her audition, Styles joked "I think I’m in love with her. I’m not even kidding" and she was met with an influx of abusive tweets from fans of the 'What Makes You Beautiful' singer, which included comments like "cut [her] eyeballs out of your head" and "throw [her] under a bus".

Briden has now teamed up with Australian campaign Stop The Trolls in a bid to stop this kind of problem from continuing and she explained: "If there's one thing I won't put up with it's bullying."

"Initially I felt quite threatened. It's scary to hear someone you've never met talk about you in that way. It's horrible. But then you remind yourself it's just some teenager locked away in their bedroom and you realise you need to step away."
