Ryan Seacrest on Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey Idol fight: 'It was intense'

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest has spoken out about the video that surfaced earlier this week showing Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey arguing on set and admitted that things got very heated during filming.

The clip, obtained by TMZ, appeared to show the 'Starships' hitmaker shouting at Carey from across the judging table and Seacrest explained this morning (October 3) during his radio show that while he wasn't there during that particular incident he was aware of what happened and heard it was "intense": "It got heated, as reported... I was not standing in the room to see it happen live... but it was intense."

"It was towards the end of the day... and so producers came in and they said, 'Look, we're gonna call it a wrap for the day. Everybody go home and get a good night's rest.'"

American Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe also added to TMZ that contrary to reports there were no death threats made: "The statement (that Minaj made a death threat) is absolute rubbish. It's absolutely not true in any way, shape or form."
