Robbie Williams and Paloma Faith sign up for Hillsborough charity single

Robbie Williams and Paloma Faith are among a number of acts who have agreed to appear on a forthcoming charity single in honour of those who lost loved ones in the Hillsborough disaster.

96 people died in April 1989 during a football match between Sheffield Wednesday and Liverpool and an inquest recently unearthed police failings during the incident.

Music stars are uniting together to record a cover of The Hollies' 'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother' and other acts such as Rebecca Ferguson and Mel C have also signed up.

Funds raised from the single, which is gunning for the Christmas No.1, will go towards the legal costs for further inquests into the tragedy.

Speaking about the initiative and Sir Paul McCartney's possible involvement, producer Guy Chambers said:

"I'm very happy with the artists we have already, but obviously I know Sir Paul McCartney was mentioned, so if he did join our happy little band of talent then that would be amazing."

The song will be released in the UK on December 17.
