Carly Rae Jepsen sued by singer for copyright infringement

A singer-songwriter has filed a copyright lawsuit against Carly Rae Jepsen and Owl City over their song 'Good Time'.

The track, which features on Jepsen's 2012 album 'Kiss', has proved to be something of a success and has received airplay across the world.

Allyson Nichole Burnett from Alabama, however, has launched legal proceedings against the pair for allegedly copying the "unique vocal motif" from her 2010 track 'Ah, It's a Love Song'.

The lawsuit claims that "many consumers may incorrectly assume that Burnett copied her own Original Motif from the Infringing Songwriters due to the widespread popularity and publication of 'Good Time'."

Burnett adds that she has received "emotional and psychological damage" from people questioning why she stole Jepsen and Owl City's song.

Billboard reports that she is also suing Universal Music Group, Songs Music Publishing and Schoolboy Records.
