Ed Sheeran congratulates Taylor Swift on album sales figures

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has sent his congratulations to Taylor Swift after she shifted 1.208m copies of her new album 'Red', on which he also features, in its first week of release.

Sheeran collaborated with the country-pop superstar on a track called 'Everything Has Changed' for the record, and he took to his official Twitter page earlier today (October 31) to tell her well done for creating such a well-loved body of music:

"Congrats to @taylorswift13 for selling 1.2 million albums in a week, orrrrsssuuummmm."

Upon hearing the confirmed sales figures for the first week of 'Red', Swift expressed her astonishment by writing on her social networking page: "They just told me Red sold 1.2 million albums first week. How is this real life?! You are UNREAL. I love you so much. Thanks a million ;)"

Over the weekend, the 'Lego House' hitmaker announced that he will be opening for Swift on her forthcoming U.S. arena tour in 2013 and tweeted: "Happy to announce that I am special guest on @taylorswift13's tour of North America next year, cannot wait!! 9 stadiums and 36 arenas. Gonna be bonks."
