DJ Steve Aoki cancels show after three die at Halloween gig

Steve Aoki cancelled a show due to take place in Bilbao last night (November 1) following the death of three people at his gig the night before.

The electro star was performing a Halloween concert in Madrid on Wednesday (October 31) when a crowd crush ensued, leaving three people dead and two critically injured.

In a statement released yesterday, Aoki said that he was "devastated" to hear the news and confirmed that his show that night would be pulled. The American DJ said:

"I was devastated to hear that three people had died during a crowd rush at one of the exits. The safety of my fans has always been my top priority and had I known that there was any distress putting people in jeopardy within the venue I would have ended my show immediately."

He continued: "My show in Bilbao, Spain tonight will be cancelled out of respect for those who lost their lives and those who are injured. I would like to express my deepest condolences and heart felt prayers to the families and loved ones during this difficult time."

Aoki is due to continue his European tour tonight (November 2) in Austria.
