Robbie Williams tops UK singles chart

Robbie Williams has today topped the UK singles charts with his new single 'Candy'.

The British singer's chart triumph marks his first No.1 hit in eight years - anticipated  by his successful midweek sales on Wednesday (October 31.)

The song, which he co-wrote with Take That bandmate Gary Barlow, is taken from Williams' ninth studio album 'Take the Crown'.

The cheeky star's new release knocked Labrinth's ‘Beneath Your Beautiful' from the top spot - the R&B star's popular collaboration with multiple-MOBOs winner Emeli Sandé.

The pair's soulful track climbed a massive 84 places to No.1 last week, following their performance on The X Factor.

Wiley's new single 'Can You Hear Me' came in at No. 3, while Swedish House Mafia's floor filler 'Don't You Worry Child' slipped two places to No. 4.

Adele's 007 theme tune 'Skyfall' climbed two places to No. 5 while Calvin Harris - whose '18 Months' was announced as the UK's No. 1 album - scored a No.6 position with 'Sweet Nothing.'

Elsewhere, PSY's 'Gangnam Style' slipped to No. 7, while Rihanna's 'Diamonds' fell four places to No. 8.

The Script's 'Hall of Fame' was a non-mover at No. 15, while Florence + the Machine's 'Spectrum' also stayed at No. 35.
