Nick Grimshaw says Robbie Williams is 'irrelevant' because of his age

Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw has admitted that while he enjoys the music Robbie Williams releases he can't help but feel he's irrelevant to his listeners.

During an interview with 5 News, the radio host and DJ explained that he thinks Williams is too old to connect with the people who tune into his show because they're mostly teenagers who are obsessed with boybands such as One Direction:

"I don't know if he's now for a Radio 1 audience. I've never listened to a Robbie Williams song but I really like him. To 13 and 14-year-olds he's not relevant... they've got One Direction. I liked Take That when I was little, but I'm not little anymore."

Despite Grimshaw's opinions on Williams, he secured the 14th No.1 of his career yesterday (November 4) with his new offering 'Candy'.
