Carly Rae Jepsen denies copying Ukrainian song 'Hunky Santa'

Carly Rae Jepsen has denied claims that her hit track 'Call Me Maybe' has taken a little too much influence from a Ukranian song.

The 26-year-old has been threatened with legal action by singer Aza in relation to her innuendo-laden track 'Hunky Santa'.

The Ukrainian told TMZ that she nearly crashed her car in shock when she first heard Jepsen's 'Call Me Maybe'. She said:

"I'm shocked and surprised that these people wanted to sample my lyrics on their song. They didn't ask me for permission, they just took it. That's why I filed this lawsuit. When I first heard it on the radio, I was driving and almost got into an accident. I couldn't believe what I was hearing."

Jepsen's rep meanwhile threw out the claims, stating:

"This is completely false and [Carly's] lawyers will deal with this. Everyone knows [Carly] is a songwriter. She is not spending a lot of time listening to Ukrainian radio."

It isn't the first lawsuit to be presented to Jepsen recently, with her Owl City collaboration 'Good Time' the subject of legal action from an Alabama singer.
