Teen heartthrob Justin Bieber admits although he doesn't get "super depressed" about his lack of friends, he can sometimes feel very lonely.

Despite being one of the most popular music acts around - with a staunchly loyal female following - Bieber insists his jet-setting lifestyle can sometimes take its toll on him.

Talking to Oprah Winfrey for her Next Chapter show he said: "I get lonely sometimes. You feel sometimes you just need someone to be there with you. [I don't get] super super super depressed, but I get days where I'm just down and, you know, gloomy.

"Just because I'm human."

Bieber added that although there are lots of people around him, there are very few he can confide in.

The 'As Long As You Love Me' singer explained:  "I really don't have a lot of friends. I have, like, three close friends that I'll fly out to see me or that I'll chat with, or, you know, call, but that's really the truth."
