One Direction call Madison Square Garden gig "best night of their lives"

One Direction have expressed their gratitude and joy at performing at New York's iconic Madison Square Garden.

The band headlined the venue last night (December 3) and the quintet had likened the performance pre-show to a "dream coming to life".

They even managed to slip in a guest cameo from songwriter Ed Sheeran on the rendition of their latest single 'Little Things'.

It seems the show lived up to their expectations, with Niall Horan suggesting afterwards that it was the pinnacle of their career so far. He tweeted:

"Wow, madison square garden, thank you soo much! It was the best night of our lives! Thank you thank you thank you ! #1DinMSG."

Liam Payne meanwhile thanked their adoring fans for coming to see the show, saying:

"What a night! I had soooo much fun! Thank you to everyone who came to see us and everyone of our fans who support us! I love you loads :)."

One of the next events on the One Direction agenda meanwhile is appearing on the X Factor UK final over the weekend of Saturday (December 8) and Sunday (December 9).
