Arcade Fire working with LCD Soundsystem on new album

Arcade Fire’s manager, Scott Rodger, has revealed that the band are recording with former LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy to produce their new album.

Talking to Musicweek, Rodger said: "They're in with James Murphy on three or so songs, plus Markus Dravs who is a long-time collaborator. They write too many songs - that's a good problem to have. There's around 35 songs with Arcade Fire, two albums' worth for sure."

The band are working on their fourth outing, a follow-up to their 2010 album, ‘The Suburbs’. They announced that work on this new album had begun earlier this year when speaking to Ottawa radio station CKCU.

When prompted about new material, bandmember Jeremy Gara stated: "I can't make a promise, but definitely next year. The goal is to work through Christmas and get something finished around springtime, and then who knows how long it takes to get something out. But I'd say later next year, if I can ballpark."

The official release date for the album is yet to be announced.
