James Arthur: "X Factor doesn't need a revamp"

X Factor champion James Arthur insists the show doesn't need a "revamp" as his single has been so successful.

The singer-songwriter shot straight in at No.1 during yesterday's (December 12) midweek singles chart update with 'Impossible'.

The track has been named the year's fastest selling single so far, surpassing Cheryl Cole's 'Call My Name,' with Arthur also claiming the fastest-selling winner's single in the show's history.

Arthur is amazed by the popularity of 'Impossible', which had sold 255,000 copies by midnight on Tuesday.

He told BBC's Newsbeat: "I can't believe that that many people took the time to download it. It's pretty cool. All this stuff about X Factor needing a revamp - it can't need one that much because a lot of people seem to have been interested in my single."

Arthur was impressed by the talent on this year's show.

He added: "I think this year rejuvenated The X Factor. It's been a game changer. People like Lucy Spraggan and Ella Henderson and Jahmene and Kye Sones - all these people who are genuine, authentic musicians singer-songwriters - hopefully that's going to encourage people, real musos, to come forward to the show in future."
