One Direction are set to perform on the X Factor USA final next week.

The reality show comes to an end on Wednesday and Thursday (December 19/20) as Fifth Harmony, Tate Stevens and Carly Rose Sonenclar vie for victory.

One Direction and Pitbull have been announced to perform at the showpiece final as the three acts fight for a $5 million (£3.1 million) recording contract.

The British boyband already performed on the USA show recently and they made an appearance on the UK final too.

It will mark a swift return to the States for the quintet, who recently performed a show at New York's iconic Madison Square Garden.

Confirming the news on Twitter, X Factor USA said: "On the grand finale next week will be....@OneDirection & @Pitbull!!!!! #xfactor."

As previously reported, One Direction have been named as MTV's Artist of the Year as 2012 comes to a close.
