Jahmene Douglas has become the latest X Factor act to sign a deal with Sony.

The singer, who finished runner up on the 2012 series to winner James Arthur, has penned a deal with the record company off the back of the show.

He follows Ella Henderson and group Union J in teaming up with the label.

Tweeting about the good news, Douglas revealed that he is understandably excited about his career prospects. He said:

"Eeek .. My excitement always takes time to kick in :-p but I think it's slowly slipping in just what's in store for me :-) woooo xx."

It's been a stark change in fortune for Douglas, who previously revealed that he once tried kill himself as a result of physical and mental abuse from his father.
