Lostprophets express "shock" at singer's child sex charges

Lostprophets have replaced their website with a statement describing their "shock" at their singer's recent arrest over child sex offences.

As previously reported, 35-year-old Welsh rock star Ian Watkins appeared on court on Wednesday (December 19) over a number of alleged offences.

The court heard that Watkins and a 24-year-old woman allegedly conspired to rape a 1-year-old girl, with the singer also under charges of conspiring to sexually touch two children and being in the possession of "indecent" images.

Watkins, the 24-year-old woman and a 20-year-old woman will return to court on December 31.

The news shocked the rock world and the rest of Watkins' bandmates - Jamie Oliver, Lee Gaze, Luke Johnson, Mike Lewis and Stuart Richardson - have issued a statement detailing their thoughts. They said about their singer, who can be seen third from the right below, the following:

"Following charges made against Ian Watkins, we find ourselves in a state of shock. We are learning about the details of the investigation along with you. It is a difficult time for us and our families, and we want to thank our fans for their support as we seek answers. Jamie, Lee, Luke, Mike and Stu."
