Music mogul Simon Cowell has weighed in on rumours that LeAnn Rimes was drunk during her X Factor USA performance.

The country songstress performed a rendition of her hit 'How Do I Live?' alongside finalist Carly Rose Sonenclar on Wednesday night's show, and after her somewhat awkward turn on the stage Rimes was hit by claims that she was intoxicated.

Cowell has rubbished reports Rimes was drunk during the show, instead calling her performance "interesting".

When asked by US website TMZ if he thought the singer was drunk when she took to the mic, he smiled: "No, I think she was just happy."

The X Factor judge also added that LeAnn is welcome back on the show "any time."

Yesterday, Rimes also slammed the speculation, claiming: "I was trying to help this 13-year-old girl who was having some trouble with the song."
