Justin Bieber calls for change in law after photographer death

Justin Bieber has suggested that new laws should be introduced in relation to paparazzi following the death of a photographer.

As previously reported, police have confirmed that a snapper was run over and killed on a Los Angeles road on Tuesday (January 1) after taking photos of Justin Bieber's stationary Ferrari.

The singer was not in the car at the time of the incident and the unnamed photographer was hit by a vehicle as he walked back to his own car before dying in hospital.

Bieber has issued a statement about the incident, calling for a change in law to protect celebrities and photographers. The 'Believe' star said:

"While I was not present nor directly involved with this tragic accident, my thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim."

He continued: "Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders, and the photographers themselves."
