Adele, The Beatles and Queen are the music acts British fans are most proud of

A new survey, conducted by home phone and broadband provider Plusnet, has revealed the names of the music acts that British residents are the most proud of.

The results showed that 71% of people asked feel that iconic rock band Queen and The Beatles are of the biggest credit to the country, while 'Skyfall' singer and Golden Globe winner Adele came in second with 48% of the vote.

Pink Floyd secured 46% of the responses and 'Wonderwall' legends Oasis were right behind with 32%.

Plusnet CEO, Jamie Ford, explained the reasons behind the poll and admitted that it was great to see such classic acts gather recognition as it shows that the greats are still being listened to:

"With pride being at the center everything we do and music being one of the most popular things streamed and downloaded on our award-winning broadband we thought it would be interesting to see which artists the country took pride in."

"It's fascinating to see that it's the bands that have been successful over a period of time, rather than the most contemporary artists, which have topped the poll."
