One Direction heartthrob Zayn Malik has been showing off a new style during the lads' recent trip to Japan.

During a promotional appearance in Tokyo yesterday (January 17), the tattooed singer debuted a new look after getting rid of his trademark quiff and flattening his hair (shown below).

The 'What Makes You Beautiful' superstars have been sharing photographs with their Twitter followers that document their visit and member Niall Horan uploaded images of delicious sashimi and a stunning view to his social networking page.

Horan also expressed his excitement at being in Japan and added:

"This place is so cool! Can't wait for next few days ! Gona be fun!I love this country! such a laugh! Airport was crazy! Big love to japanese fans."
