Simon Cowell: "X Factor will be on TV for a long time"

Simon Cowell has predicted a long future for the UK X Factor.

The reality show has endured a somewhat rocky last few years, with the 2011 series - which was won by Little Mix - panned for the quality of contestants, for example.

The future of the show has been put in question as a result - but supremo Simon Cowell believes it isn't about to die off soon.

Speaking about the end of the 2013 X Factor and whether it will be the last one, he told BBC Newsbeat:

"I guess there will be conversations then. It will be on TV for a long time to come. [Britain's Got Talent also] will. But I want to get this year out of the way first before I think about anything else."

Cowell added: "You've just got to try and make a better show than you did the year before. And if you do that there's a chance you can get the numbers up."
