Lawson star's ex-girlfriend channelled Taylor Swift by penning break-up songs

Joel Peat, guitarist for pop-rock band Lawson, has revealed that an ex-girlfriend of his was so troubled by their split that she acted out Taylor Swift-inspired revenge by writing songs about it.

The band's frontman, Andy Brown, explained to The Sun newspaper that the ex-lover in question was a singer-songwriter so felt the need to put her experiences to music and tell all: "Joel was seeing this girl who was a singer-songwriter and when it ended she wrote a load of songs about him. Very Taylor Swift."

Member Adam Pitts added that sometimes getting a female perspective is great and maybe they will think about doing a duet in the future for that purpose: "We’d love to get a girl on one of our tracks and get their point of view. In America, they do that so well — duets. We’d love to have Taylor or Katy Perry.”

Peat then opened up about Lawson's new record and confessed that it will probably be great because of all the "weird stuff" they have encountered this year: "There’s been some weird stuff this year but the more bad s*** that happens, the better the album will be. We just need to set each other up for a load of fails to make a good album.”
