Spice Girls reveal plans to take 'Viva Forever!' musical to Broadway

The musical based on the lives and careers of the Spice Girls is currently being discussed as a possible Broadway production.

It opened in London last year, but disappointing ticket sales have led the show's writers and the Spice Girls themselves to debate whether it would be better suited to an American audience.

Member Emma Bunton admitted that it would be great to take the production to the USA: "The plan is to go abroad with the show and we're very optimistic. We want to get it out on Broadway."

Producer Judy Craymer added that along with hopefully taking 'Viva Forever!' to New York's famous theatre district, it would be great to open it in Asia: "We want to get it out to Broadway - that's the plan. There are talks in progress. Japan and Asia also want it."

Craymer added that it's important the show is at its best before moving it out of London: "We just want to make sure we have the product right in London first. The critics were always going to give us a hard time, but the truth is it's sold out until June."

"Feedback from audiences has been amazing. Spice Girls fans are loving every minute... It's been hard - but just like any show is hard to start from scratch and launch on the West End."
