Amelia Lily announced as Girls Aloud support act

Former X Factor finalist Amelia Lily has announced she will support Girls Aloud on their hotly-anticipated reunion tour.

The blonde star took to Twitter this afternoon to share her excitement with fans.

Writing on the social networking site, Lily exclaimed: "Ahhhh SO EXCITED TO BE OPENING FOR @GirlsAloud ON THEIR TOURRRR!! Who's coming?! #AmeliaGATour :D (sic)."

Lily is famed for finishing third place on the 2011 series of The X Factor in the UK and has since released two hit singles 'You Bring Me Joy' and 'Shut Up (And Give Me Whatever You Got)'.

Ten - The Hits Tour 2013 kicks off later this month and is the sixth concert tour by the popular British girl group in support of their second greatest hits album, Ten.

Earlier this week, band member Nadine Coyle warned fans of an "emotional" section in the show.

"Just to warn you, there is a really emotional part in the show. We all stood and cried our eyes out during it today! I still feel drained. X (sic)."

The series of concerts begins at Newcastle's Metro Arena on February 21.
