One Direction stars: "We'd probably be criminals if we weren't singers"

One Direction duo Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan reckon they could have ended up as criminals if they didn't pursue a career in music.

The pop group were virtual unknowns before being pieced together on the X Factor in 2010, with the five lads becoming global icons in the ensuing months.

Speaking to the Metro, Louis Tomlinson believes that if he wasn't in One Direction, he might be attempting education or indulging in criminality. He said:

""I would be struggling my way through education or a life of crime."

Niall Horan added: "I would have been at university, and a life of crime as well."

Bandmate Liam Payne meanwhile chipped in: "If One Direction never happened I would be working in a factory or as a fireman."
