Robbie Williams explains BRIT Awards song

Robbie Williams has revealed why he penned a song about the 2013 BRIT Awards.

As previously reported, the singer surprised fans recently by uploading online a fresh track called 'The Brits 2013'.

The song, which was written with Guy Chambers, took aim at the awards ceremony.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4, Williams said that he penned the tune because he was left disappointed by the crowd's reaction to his live slot, which saw him perform his hit single 'Candy'. He said:

"I'm not saying that I was amazing at the Brits either."

Williams continued: "I got on stage and turned around and looked at a dead hall. It's not their fault, but maybe they should have some punters in."
