Carly Rae Jepsen explains Boy Scouts concert cancellation: 'I'm praying for change'

Earlier this month, Canadian songstress Carly Rae Jepsen confirmed that she had pulled out of her headlining slot at the Boy Scouts Jamboree event over the organisation's anti-gay agenda.

She was due to perform at the music event in July, but told her Twitter followers that after learning that the Boy Scouts has a ban on gay members she decided to decline the invitation. She has now explained to MTV News that she hopes her actions will inspire change among the group:

"It was sort of one of those things that I kind of have my opinions about, and everyone's entitled to their own, but it wasn't necessarily something that I felt comfortable backing once I learned more about it."

"Here's hoping they make the right decision and I'm praying that moves like this will help."

A spokesperson for the Boy Scouts of America has since confessed that her decision has been respected as they believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion: "We appreciate everyone's right to express an opinion and remain focused on delivering a great Jamboree programme for our Scouts.”
