One Direction singer Liam Payne's new dog has been on the receiving end of Twitter hate.

As previously reported, the 'Live While We're Young' star and his girlfriend Danielle Peazer recently revealed that they had taken in a cute pup called Loki.

Peazer said on Twitter at the time: "The new love of mine and @Real_Liam_Payne's life..... Loki :) xxx."

It seems to have caused some upset among jealous One Direction fans, however, who took offense to the new dog and its place in Payne's heart.

The Mirror reports that one fan wrote on Twitter: "I am outraged and appalled f***ing loki the dog! that dog aint nothing but the scum on my shoe."

The newspaper also said that some users tried to start the trend '#dieloki', but thankfully it didn't catch on.

Most One Direction fans, however, have of course fallen in love with the adorable Loki, with one Twitter user saying:

"Oh my - @Real_Liam_Payne and @DaniellePeazer named their new dog LOKI? :D #cute !!! And awesome!!"
