School bans pupils from wearing Odd Future T-shirts

Pupils at a middle school in Wolcott, Connecticut have been banned from wearing T-shirts associated with the group OFWGKTA because according to the teachers, they "stand for something vile".

Educators at the Tyrrell Middle School originally thought the students wore the garments, which feature cats heads with inverted crucifixes emblazoned on them, out of love for cats, but soon realised they were Odd Future shirts so have stopped them being allowed on the property.

Superintendent Joseph Macary explained to NBC that they allow students to express themselves within reason and the shirts they have been wearing are very inappropriate: "The Wolcott Public Schools believes in and supports the First Amendment rights of students, in accordance with both court decisions and the policies of the Wolcott Board of Education."

"The Wolcott Public Schools has always and will continue to allow students their rights of free expression, so long as all students exercise their rights without creating a substantial disruption to the educational environment for all students."
