Jay-Z praised by New York's Mayor in Time's 2013 '100 Most Influential People' list

Time magazine has published its 2013 list of the '100 Most Influential People' and there are some well-known stars of music that feature in this year's results.

Rapper Jay-Z (pictured left with Time photographer Mark Seliger) and his wife Beyoncé, music manager Scooter Braun, 'Mirrors' hitmaker Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera and Frank Ocean have all been included in the Top 100.

The Mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg, profiled '99 Problems' superstar Jay-Z and wrote: "Jay Z embodies so much of what makes New York New York. A kid from a tough neighborhood who grows up in public housing, overcomes lots of bad influences on the street, never lets go of his dream, makes it to the top — and then keeps going, pursuing new outlets for his creativity and ambition."

Stevie Wonder, meanwhile, wrote about Timberlake and described him as 'doing God's work through his different talents': "His star power comes from the fact that he sounds like he’s having fun when he makes music, and he can read a song—meaning as a singer or songwriter you can feel the emotion. You think, I can relate to that or I believe in that, and then the listener can feel it too."

The full power 100 can be found here and this year marks the list's tenth anniversary.
