Pink Floyd pay tribute to album artwork designer Storm Thorgerson after death

Influential album art designer Storm Thorgerson has died aged 69.

The British artist created what is perhaps the best known album cover of all time, Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side Of The Moon'.

He also worked with other artists such as Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, as well as newer acts such as Muse and Biffy Clyro.

His family said in a statement: "He had been ill for some time with cancer though he had made a remarkable recovery from his stroke in 2003. He is survived by his mother Vanji, his son Bill, his wife Barbie Antonis and her two children Adam and Georgia."

Long-time collaborators Pink Floyd meanwhile wrote on their website: "We are saddened by the news that long-time Pink Floyd graphic genius, friend and collaborator, Storm Thorgerson, has died. Our thoughts are with his family and many friends."
