UK sales of vinyl records up 78% this year

As Record Store Day 2013 approaches, it has been revealed that sales of vinyl in the UK have risen an impressive 78% this year.

This exciting news comes just ahead of RSD, which takes place around the world tomorrow (April 20), and Mumford & Sons' 'Babel' was named the biggest-selling vinyl album of 2012/13.

Data was compiled by the Official Charts Company and it was shown that independent record stores accounted for 3% of all albums sold physically in the past 12 months while they also contributed to 38% of all vinyl sales in the UK.

The Top 10 best-selling vinyl also includes Jake Bugg's self-titled debut offering, David Bowie's new release and Emeli Sande's 'Our Version Of Events'. The full list can be seen below:
