The three acts, Taylor Swift, fun. and Maroon 5, have been named as finalists in an impressive 11 categories each at this year's Billboard Music Awards.

The exciting news was announced earlier today (April 22) and Swift will go head to head with Maroon 5 for the coveted Top Artist prize at the ceremony, which is due to be held on May 19 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Bajan beauty Rihanna will compete in a whopping 10 categories, 'Call Me Maybe' hitmaker Carly Rae Jepsen is up for 9 titles and UK based boyband One Direction have been recognised in 8 categories including Top Artist and Top New Artist.

The ceremony is set to be hosted by comedian and '30 Rock' actor Tracy Morgan and will feature live performances from the likes of Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars and aforementioned nominee Swift.
