Frank Ocean: 'The Beatles and the Beach Boys are influencing my new record'

R&B superstar Frank Ocean has opened up about the artists that have influenced his forthcoming new album and credited The Beatles with being a main source of inspiration.

He is currently working on his follow up album to the critically acclaimed 'Channel Orange' and recently revealed to MTV News that a host of bands from older generations have been working their way into his mindset when it comes to shaping the sound of his new record:

"When I was making the first [album] there were a group of artists that I listened to, just for inspiration and to absorb the energies."

"It was a lot of Stevie Wonder, and this time it's a lot of Beach Boys and Beatles and whatnot, so we'll see how it trickles into the music and the final product. I can't say much other than that."

Meanwhile, Ocean was named one of the Top 10 most influential gay stars in music by Out magazine and he also made Time's list of 100 Most Influential People
