Fatboy Slim on Daft Punk: “They’re the last great dance music supergroup”

British DJ Fatboy Slim has been praising the talents of dance duo Daft Punk.

Speaking to the Daily Star Norman Cook, a.k.a. Fatboy Slim, told journalists that he holds Daft Punk and their music in high regard.

The 49-year-old DJ gushed: “I’m so impressed by them. It’s a breath of fresh old school air.”

He is happy that the French electro group are invigorating the dance music genre as he stated: “The EDM thing has become a collection of huge noises that sound the same and are a bit bland.”

Cook continued: “I’m glad Daft Punk have given us all a kick up the arse. They are so simple and melodic. They’re the last great dance music supergroup you’ll hear.”

Daft Punk are expected to achieve their first UK number one single this weekend with 'Get Lucky' after making it to the top spot in the mid-week chart.

Fatboy Slim is due to be honoured at Ibiza’s International Music Summit on May 22.
