The Rolling Stones play surprise show in LA

The Rolling Stones surprised fans last night by playing a show at a small venue in Los Angeles.

News of the concert appeared online the day of the gig (April 27). Tickets cost just $20 and were allocated via a lottery system.

The Rolling Stones took to the stage at The Echoplex, located in Echo Park, and performed a 14 song set list which lasted an hour and a half.

Songs played on the night included The Stones’ own hits such as ‘Miss You’, ‘Start Me Up’ and ‘Street Fighting Man.’ They also incorporated a number of covers such as ‘Little Queenie’, which was made famous by Chuck Berry, and ‘Just My Imagination’ by The Temptations.

Frontman Mick Jagger joked with the audience: "Welcome to Echo Park, a neighbourhood that's always coming up - and I'm glad you're here to welcome an up and coming band."

The Rolling Stone’s ‘50 and Counting’ Tour will officially begin on May 3 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The band will bring the tour to the UK to headline Glastonbury Festival on June 29 and to play two shows in Hyde Park, London on July 6 and July 13.
