Spice Girls musical to close

A musical based on the Spice Girls is set to close after just seven months.

Viva Forever! - which is written by Jennifer Saunders - launched last year in London and it was given an extension to February 2014.

However, it seems the production will close in late June, with cast member Anthony Topham confirming the news on Twitter. He said:

"Cut price Gerrard Butler type who can do a Geordie accent for hire! Viva Forever given its notice and will close 29th June. #iblamesting."

The musical has since confirmed the news of its closure. The production will have made a reported loss of £5m when it ends.

Viva Forever! was launched by the five members of the Spice Girls in 2012, with the show using the group's music.
