Spice Girls musical sees surge in ticket sales following closure news

'Viva Forever!', the musical based on the lives and careers of the Spice Girls superstars, is set to close this summer although tickets for the production have now skyrocketed since the news of its cancellation broke.

It was confirmed yesterday (May 2) that the show will close on June 29 after just 7 months of being on stage, but the news has now encouraged fans to buy tickets and sales have surged in the past 24 hour.

A spokesperson from UK ticketing site StubHub, Brigitte Ricou-Bellan, explained in a statement that there has been a 220% rise: "Despite the bad press, this news will come as a disappointment to many and we've seen a significant uplift in searches as fans rush to get tickets while they still can."

"With just eight weeks until the show ends StubHub is helping fans across the country find remaining tickets safely and securely."

Following the shock announcement, several of the Spice Girls tweeted their 'devastation' at the cancellation and Emma Bunton wrote: "I am totally gutted that our wonderful show @vivaforever is coming to an end. Thank you to all our amazing fans for your constant support!"
