Michael Jackson told tour crew 'God is talking to me' days before death

The trial to determine if concert promoter AEG Live should be held liable in Michael Jackson's death is currently underway and new evidence has been given about the superstar's mindset before he passed away.

Just days before the King of Pop died on June 25, 2009, he told his tour director Kenny Ortega and associate producer Alif Sankey that he had been hearing the 'voice of God'.

Sankey told jurors on Wednesday, May 8, that during rehearsals on June 19 the superstar looked "extremely thin" and "was not speaking normally". Sankey even confessed that she pulled over her car on the way home to talk with Ortega about Jackson's behaviour "because I had a very strong feeling that Michael was dying":

"I was screaming into the phone at that point. I said he needs to be put in the hospital now. I kept saying that 'Michael is dying, he's dying, he's leaving us, he needs to be put in a hospital. Please do something. Please, please.' I kept saying that. I asked him why no one had seen what I had seen. He said he didn't know."

Jackson's final rehearsal, which took place just one day before his death on June 24, saw him perform two songs and wrapping himself in a blanket. "He didn't look good," Sankey testified. "I asked him if he was cold, and he said 'Yes.'"

The trial continues today (May 9) with new witness Karen Faye, who was Jackson's longtime hair and make-up artist.
