Adam Lambert thanks GLAAD Awards

Adam Lambert has thanked the 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards for honouring him last night (May 11).

In March, GLAAD announced that Lambert would receive the Davidson/Valentini Award and cited the singer’s “continued success as one of the world’s best-selling pop stars shows LGBT people that they can be themselves and make it in a mainstream industry that many feel unfairly rejects them.

“Adam is fearless on stage and astonishes audiences in every country he performs in.”

Lambert took to Twitter after the ceremony - which was held at the Hilton Hotel in San Francisco - to thank the organisation for their continued support:

"Thank you @GLAAD for honoring me at the #glaadwards. Text GLAAD to 80888 to donate $10 to support GLAAD's work (sic)."

The 31-year-old star also posted a photo with his mother at the awards do, with the accompanying caption: "Mom and I at the #glaadawards both rockin Alexander McQueen on the carpet (sic)."

The annual ceremony pays tribute to the most outstanding images of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community.

Spice Girls star Mel B presented Lambert with his award, and posted her excitement on Twitter ahead of the event.
