Daft Punk on 'Random Access Memories': 'It turned out to be an optimistic record'

Electro-duo Daft Punk have opened up about their brand new album, 'Random Access Memories, and described the cut as "optimistic".

The French pair, who made the record available to stream in full through iTunes yesterday, explained to Australian radio station Triple J that they just wanted to produce a collection of songs that were 'organic' and made the listener feel good:

"Like every song on this record, it was something really organic. Somehow this track can summarize what the spirit of this record is — which is the idea of teaming up, to try to do quality pop music and dance music which is just the idea of something which is a good feeling."

"Most of the ideas behind this record are ideas of celebration. It turns out to be a very optimistic record with very celebratory and optimistic lyrics, and it's coming out in a world that is not so optimistic, and which is somehow maybe more cynical and slightly pessimistic."
