David Bowie and Uriah Heep bassist Trevor Bolder dies aged 62

Trevor Bolder has died aged 62.

The bassist was best known for playing in David Bowie's backing band The Spiders From Mars and also in Uriah Heep.

He died on Tuesday (May 21) after a battle with cancer.

Bolder played on bass on a number of Bowie albums in the early 70s, including 'The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars' and 'Hunky Dory'.

The bassist joined English rock band Uriah Heep in 1976 and only left the group recently due to his health.

A statement on Uriah Heep's website reads: "Trevor was an all time great, one of the outstanding musicians of his generation, and one of the finest and most influential bass players that Britain ever produced. His long time membership of Uriah Heep brought the band's music, and Trevor's virtuosity and enthusiasm, to hundreds of thousands of fans across the world."
