The first ever Social Star Awards was held this evening in Singapore, honoring the world’s dominating forces in social media. From viral vids to Twitter armies, the event attracted stars from every end of global pop culture.

The evening featured performances from huge acts such as Aerosmith, Carly Rae Jepson and Psy and boasted a star-studded red carpet.

The big winners of the night included One Direction, who accepted their award for Most Popular Music Group via video link saying: ''We wanna say a massive thank you for the Best Social Star Group of the year award. Thank you for our Starcount award, and we will see you soon!”

Justin Bieber picked up the award for Most Popular Music Solo Artist. “Thank you to all my fans that helped me win best solo artist,” he said. “You guys are awesome!”

Other award winners included Selena Gomez who picked up Most Popular Actress, Ellen DeGeneres who won Most Popular TV Show and Christiano Ronaldo who was named Most Popular Sports Person.
