Take That’s Mark Owen reveals his struggle to give up smoking

Take That star Mark Owen has spoken about his fight to quit smoking.

The ‘Shine’ singer talked openly about his battle to give up cigarettes and alcohol with The Sun on Sunday newspaper.

On trying to kick his bad habits Mark Owen said: “I stopped smoking on my 41st birthday, in January, and I've been an emotional wreck ever since. I've been a little bit on the edge, it's been four months. Chocolate has taken over from that.”

However, he went on to admit that he has found abstaining from alcohol to be more noticeably beneficial to his health than ditching nicotine.

Owen explained: “I can't say I've had any benefits [from quitting smoking] yet but the drinking, definitely massive benefits - waking up in the morning and not carrying a bottle of wine inside you. It's been three years - I'm glad I stopped.”

Mark Owen is due to release his fourth solo album ‘The Art of Doing Nothing’ on June 10 as well as embarking on a UK tour.
