Daft Punk storm the album chart with ‘Random Access Memories’

Daft Punk’s ‘Random Access Memories’ has shot straight to the top of the album chart.

The duo’s number one position comes as no surprise following news earlier this week that their latest album has already become the fastest selling record of 2013 in the UK

Last week’s top album, Rod Stewart’s ‘Time’ has fallen one spot to no. 2.

Two new entries into the top five come from The National with ‘Trouble Will Find Me’ at no. 3 and 30 Seconds To Mars’ ‘Love Lust Faith + Dreams’ at no. 5.

Other high entries into the album chart include Demi Levato’s ‘Demi’ at no. 10 which gives the US songstress her highest charting album in the UK so far, and Jamie Cullum’s ‘Momentum’ is in at no. 20.

The rest of the top ten is made up by Texas’ ‘The Conversation’ at no. 4, Rudimental’s ‘Home’ at no. 6, Passenger’s ‘All The Little Lights’ just behind at no. 7, Caro Emerald’s ‘The Shocking Miss Emerald’ at no. 8 and Gabriel Aplin’s ‘English Rain’ down seven places to no. 9.

Emeli Sandé’s record breaking debut album ‘Our Version Of Events’ has left the top ten for the first time since its release in February of last year. After 66 consecutive weeks within the top ten, ‘Our Version Of Events’ has descended from no. 8 to no. 15.
