Singer Miguel: "Black people are the most judgmental people in the world"

R&B crooner Miguel has had a week of unusual press after he landed on a girl's neck at the Billboard Music Awards on May 19, but he has now added fuel to the fire by going on a Twitter rant about race.

The 'Adorn' singer took to his official Twitter page on May 27 and declared that "black people are the most judgmental people in the world", a statement that divided his followers. He wrote:

"I'm proud of my heritage but honestly, black people are the most judgmental people in the world. Shit's sad man. We've been conditioned, pre-programmed to hate ourselves."

"That's why I appreciate those who choose to think and act for themselves regardless of ethnicity or culture. The problem can not be fixed until the problem is recognized. Not everyone is the same thank goodness. And obviously, I love all my fans. Of course EVERYONE is judgemental. I just PERSONALLY believe WE are the most critical of our own."

Miguel, who also revealed that he is set to "play Jools Holland this week", later returned to the site and added: "...life is all about context."
