Harry Styles' friend Nick Grimshaw: 'One Direction should never play Glastonbury'

Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw has admitted that while he is close friends with One Direction's Harry Styles, he doesn't think the band should ever consider performing at real music festivals because their genre isn't right for the setting.

The radio presenter made headlines recently after losing the station 1 million listeners since taking over from Chris Moyles and he has now hit out at the pop group's saccharine sound, saying it doesn't have the credibility required for an event such as Glastonbury Festival.

Grimshaw is quoted as saying: "I don't think One Direction's music sounds like the stuff that is historically supported by Glastonbury."

Back in April, he opened up about his friendship with 'Little Things' hitmaker Styles and joked that despite their age gap it's "not that weird": "It seems totally normal to me: a DJ being mates with a pop star. It's not like he's some weirdo who can't talk. He's really funny. When anyone meets him, it's like, 'Oh yeah, he's really nice and interesting'. And they immediately understand."
